A Manual for Compliance Professionals
What we provide in this manual are Best Practice Standards by which healthcare compliance programs and their component parts can be judged as not only meeting and exceeding all external requirements, but as equal to or better than the best known compliance program practices.
Last year we added privacy and security and standards and this year have added to the area of compliance risk assessment. We are pleased to announce that Best Practice Standards for Compliance Programs 2014: A Manual for Compliance Professionals will be published at the end of this month.
Many compliance professionals not only use the standards to improve their own programs but also put the standards in the hands of their organization’s leadership and board. It is one thing to share an idea for your compliance program with leadership and the board and quite another to show them that you are following recognized standards.
There is a philosophy behind the Best Practice Standards. While there are numerous baseline standards for compliance programs, there had been no standards of excellence for compliance programs. Aiming at a minimum is a sure way to end up below that minimum. Thus, Best Practice Standards that set the bar higher are essential to the work of building excellent compliance programs.
These standards are entirely composed by working compliance professionals. By working compliance professionals, we mean individuals who work as part of the compliance functions of their organizations. No vendors or outside experts. Best Practice Standards will also help you if you are considering a submission for a Best Practices Award.
Best Practice Standards offers detailed measurements for your use in testing and auditing the effectiveness of your own compliance program.
